| AREC 689P - Applications of Microeconomics to Natural Resources and the Environment (3) This is a masters-level course on natural resource and environmental economics for non-economics majors. It presumes familiarity with basic economic models of supply, demand, and competitive equilibrium plus a working knowledge of calculus. The goal of the course is to teach students how economists analyze environmental and resource problems; how economic analysis can be used to help formulate effective policies that improve environmental quality and resource management; and the limitations of economic analysis. We will cover both general theory and applications to specific environmental and resource problems of interest, most notably resource conservation and degradation problems, especially those affecting developing countries |
